1. Ask for their resume or curriculum vitae

In any other job, before you hire someone, the curriculum vitae is the first item you ask for. Personal trainers can have very distinctive backgrounds and therefore this should be the first thing on the list.

2. Ask for experience

The places where we passed by shape us, as do the people we meet and the demands that are set upon us. Thus, asking your personal trainer for his experiences will help you understand his background better.

3. Ask for recommendations

A recommended professional is so because he/she was able to give a good experience to his/her trainee. It’s likely that he will do it again.

4. Ask for their speciality

We all have our strong points and it’s the same thing for personal trainers. Look for a professional who’s speciality is aligned with your needs and/or goals.

5. Look for connection

Make a point of getting to know the person that will train you. You will spend a few hours together and it’s only natural to try and understand if you’ll get along well.
